My name is Derek, and I am the founder of Great Lakes Tissue Culture, a Michigan startup focused on advancing plant tissue culture techniques. After gaining valuable experience in the corporate cannabis sector over the past few years, I recognized an opportunity to carve out a niche in plant biotechnology.

Great Lakes Tissue Culture was established to serve growers in our region by providing high-quality tissue culture services, alongside educational training programs. These programs cater to students aspiring to enter the field, as well as companies seeking to upskill their staff in tissue culture techniques.

My primary areas of expertise include embryo rescue, meristem isolation, and genetic preservation. I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and my graduate studies at Western Michigan University.
